Tech Lead – Full Stack Engineering (Angular & Python)
About the Role
We are looking for a strong Tech Lead who can lead a development team while remaining hands-on with technology.
The role will be responsible for the engineering and technology delivery of the Investor Portal and a portfolio of internal digital automations across various business functions.
We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable leading people, solving complex technical problems, writing production-grade code, improving engineering productivity using AI, and taking ownership of application security and stability.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Angular and Python, along with a good understanding of APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, security, CI/CD and modern software engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Leadership
- Lead and mentor the development team responsible for the Investor Portal and internal automation initiatives.
- Own the technical delivery of multiple applications and initiatives from design through production.
- Break business requirements into scalable technical solutions and actionable development tasks.
- Conduct code reviews and establish high standards for code quality, maintainability and performance.
- Build a culture of engineering ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Coach developers and help them grow technically.
- Identify capability gaps within the team and drive hiring, mentoring and upskilling.
2. Hands-on Development
- Remain hands-on with development, particularly in Angular and Python.
- Design and develop scalable frontend applications using Angular.
- Build robust backend services, APIs and automation solutions using Python.
- Work with REST APIs, authentication mechanisms, databases and third-party integrations.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide root cause analysis.
- Review and improve application architecture, performance and scalability.
We are specifically looking for someone who does not stop coding after becoming a lead and can jump into the codebase when required.
3. Investor Portal Engineering
Own the technology engineering roadmap for the Investor Portal in collaboration with Product and Business teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Application architecture and technical roadmap
- Performance and scalability
- Release planning and engineering execution
- Production stability and incident management
- API integrations with internal and external systems
- Authentication, authorization and access management
- Monitoring, logging and observability
- Technical debt reduction
- Application modernization
4. Internal Automation & AI Engineering
Lead the development of internal automation solutions across departments such as Operations, Marketing, Finance, HR, Compliance and other functions.
Identify repetitive manual processes and convert them into digital workflows, automation and AI enabled solutions.
The candidate should actively explore and use modern AI development tools such as:
- AI coding assistants
- AI powered IDEs
- LLMs for code generation and debugging
- AI based testing and documentation tools
- AI agents and workflow automation
- MCP and API based integrations
- RAG and enterprise AI solutions where relevant
The objective is not simply to use AI tools, but to increase engineering velocity and developer productivity without compromising quality or security.
5. Application Security
Own the application security posture of the Investor Portal and internal applications.
Responsibilities include:
- Secure coding practices
- OWASP principles and common application vulnerabilities
- Authentication and authorization
- API security
- Data protection and encryption
- Vulnerability management
- Dependency and library security
- Security testing and remediation
- Secure SDLC practices
- Security reviews for new applications and integrations
- Working with Information Security teams during audits and assessments
The candidate should be able to understand security issues at a technical level and work with developers to fix them rather than treating security as only a compliance activity.
6. Architecture & Engineering Standards
- Define and maintain application architecture standards.
- Drive reusable components, APIs and common frameworks.
- Establish coding, testing, documentation and deployment standards.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend their adoption where they create measurable value.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable and cost efficient.
- Identify and reduce technical debt.
7. DevOps, Cloud & Production
Work closely with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure reliable application delivery.
Experience with the following would be valuable:
- AWS or equivalent cloud platforms
- CI/CD pipelines
- Git based development
- Docker / containers
- API gateways
- CDN and caching
- Application monitoring and logging
- Performance monitoring
- Infrastructure as Code
Own engineering aspects of production incidents, including RCA, corrective actions and prevention of repeat incidents.
8. Engineering Productivity
Establish measurable engineering productivity metrics such as:
- Release velocity
- Development cycle time
- Defect leakage
- Production incidents
- Application availability
- Code quality
- Automated test coverage
- Deployment frequency
- Mean Time to Recovery
- AI assisted development productivity
Continuously identify opportunities to improve how the team builds, tests, deploys and operates software.
9. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Work closely with Product, Business, Information Security, Infrastructure, Architecture and other technology teams.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Manage technology vendors and development partners where applicable.
- Review vendor deliverables and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
- Communicate technical risks, dependencies and timelines clearly to senior management.
